On 5th September 2008, Brita Backlund Rambaree, Department of Social Studies, University of Mauritius presented the paper: People in Micro-businesses and the Blue Bay Marine Park, Mauritius: An Analysis of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Perceived Benefits at the University of Mauritius Research Week. The paper was coauthored by Chris Poonian and Patricia Davis of C3.

Mr. Farid Anasse, representing the Union of the Comoros signed the International Memorandum of Understanding for the Conservation of the Dugong in Bali, Indonesia confirming the country's commitment to conserving its small population of dugongs and their habitat. C3 has been involved in the development of the MoU and is currently working with the government of the Comoros to put together a national Conservation Action Plan for the species.

Congratulations to C3 Director, Patricia Davis who has recently been appointed as an EDGE (Evolutionarily Distinct & Globally Endangered) Fellow at the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) for her work with threatened dugong populations around the world.

C3 is working with MAYSHARK to discover more about the exploitation of sharks and bycatch issues in the Comoros

On 7th July 2008, Chris Poonian presented MOHÉLI MARINE PARK, COMOROS – SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES OF THE CO-MANAGEMENT APPROACH and CORAL REEF AWARENESS-RAISING ACTIVITIES IN THE UNION OF THE COMOROS at the International Coral Reef Symposium, Fort Lauderdale, USA.
