Union of the Comoros
However, the Comoros' impressive biodiversity and range of habitats contrasts markedly with the islands’ poverty. As with most island communities, fisheries are of considerable economic importance. Effective management of marine resources therefore is particularly important in the development of sustainable livelihoods and the elimination of poverty. In addition, the rich biodiversity of the Comoros provides potential for the development of marine ecotourism.

L'Union des Comores est un groupe d'îles volcaniques situé dans le canal du Mozambique à l'ouest de Madagascar ; elle abrite de nombreuses espèces marines endémiques et menacées à l’échelle globale, telles que : le coelacanthe, la baleine à bosse, le dugong et les tortues marines.
