MARINE PARK PLANNING

Following the creation of Blue Bay Marine Park, Balaclava Bay in the north-west of the island was the second Marine Park to be established in Mauritius.  However, active management has not yet been fully implemented. As a site used intensively for recreation and fishing it needs to be managed as a multiple-use area and thus have the full support and cooperation of the local community, tourism operators and the tourists themselves. C3 is therefore working with tourism operators of the region as well as relevant government bodies to provide technical advice and management recommendations for marine resources in Mauritius.
