C3 STAFF

PATRICIA DAVIS - Director

Patricia is a founding member of C3.  She has an MSc in Protected Area Management from James Cook University, Queensland, Australia and an MA (Zoology) from Oxford University, UK.  She wrote the Current Status of Knowledge Report for the Dugong in Palau for the Nature Conservancy. She has worked as a consultant for the Koror State Government, designing a Marine Tour Guide Certification Course , conducting aerial surveys of dugong and studying diver impacts on coral reefs. She is currently creating a National Dugong Conservation Action Plan for the Comoros in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment.

CHRIS POONIAN - International Programme Manager

Chris has an MSc in Aquatic Resource Management from King's College, London.  His research interests include community involvement in the management of natural resources.  He has also worked extensively on novel capacity-building programmes and recently authored and set up an internationally-recognized Park Ranger training course in Nicaragua.  Chris is now working in Mauritius, and is planning to develop further regional training programmes in the Western Indian Ocean in collaboration with local universities.

DR MARC HUBBLE - Technical Advisor

Marc completed his PhD at James Cook University, Australia, where he investigated the influence of species body size on the growth and reproductive characteristics of coral reef fishes.  On return to the UK Marc joined APEM as an expert in marine and coastal science and has managed numerous projects dealing with all aspects of freshwater and marine ecosystems. He is actively involved in report writing and tendering including EIAs, appropriate assessments, drought permit applications, a review of intersex in fishes and options for fisheries management.

ARABELLA BRAMLEY - Development Officer

Arabella has a BSc (Hons) degree in Zoology from the University of Wales, Swansea and an MSc in Conservation from University College London. She has worked in nature conservation in the UK and overseas for over 5 years for a number of international NGOs including WWF.  Arabella was an intern for C3-Comores in 2007 and is now responsible for fundraising activities in the UK.

EMILE BOUBA - Translator

Emile has a MA in translation from the University of Buea, Cameroon and has been working for C3 since early 2008.  He has translated for the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon, World Bank and a Cambodian NGO working with street children.  He is an active member of Traducteurs sans Frontières - Translators without Borders.

C3-COMORES

MELISSA HAUZER - C3-Comores Programme Coordinator

Melissa graduated from the University of Victoria with a BA in Geography and Environmental Studies. Her interests are in marine resource management, environmental education, and poverty alleviation. She has worked on a development project in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam and conducted research in the Gulf Islands National Park in Canada. Melissa implemented the Junior Ecoguard programme and initiated socioeconomic monitoring on Mohéli and has worked in the Comoros since mid-2006.

DANIELLA BLAKE - C3-Comores Programme Officer

Daniella completed a degree in Ecology, Anthropology and French at the University of Otago. She spent time working as a park ranger in New Zealand, before volunteering with WWF in Madagascar. Daniella is particularly interested in the development of sustainable eco-tourism projects.

MOUZIDALIFA YSSOUF BOUNOU - C3-Comores Ecotourism Officer

Mouzidalifa is from Hoani, Moheli and, following his participation in the community ecoguard training course, was awarded a C3 scholarship to complete his final year in geography at the University of the Comoros.  During his time with C3, he has completed SocMon East Africa training in socioeconomic monitoring of coastal resources and will be a key player in future conservation and ecotourism efforts in Hoani.
