MOHELI MOORING BUOY PROJECT

Coral reefs within Mohéli  Marine Park are vulnerable to damage from fishers' and ecotourism boats.  Local boatmen are unable to afford commercially-made anchors and commonly use rock anchors, which are particularly damaging to coral reefs.  C3 installed 10 mooring buoys in Mohéli Marine Park in areas which are popular with tourists and also at coral reef sites monitored by AIDE.  Therefore, this project will directly protect coral reefs and associated species.  C3 is grateful to PADI Project AWARE for providing funding for this work.
